Welcome to the forum comomo and Joey, nice to have u on board. Usually i stay away from rusty padlocks, heheh. The pins, springs all may be rusted and won't pick so easily - won't provide good feeling to the picks. But if u must, then i suggest a good dose of WD40 like NEBTD suggested. I've tried that before and it works, u really need to spray the lock through the keyhole, turn it so that the pins are down, gravity will cause the WD40 juice to seep into the pin-stacks and springs, if u have a key, jiggle the key in and out, if no key, use a pick to really rake the pins, to make sure the WD40 juice gets into every nook and corner, then u need to dry it out, else the WD-40 juice will dampen your feelings, the springs will feel dull. Hope it helps. Good luck. ;D

hi all...
i'm a little 'rusty' (pun intended) in the matter of lockpicking. i first started about 3 years ago and used hair pins as the pick and tension wrench. it was bad because although it works, the picks seem to bend after a while. so i gave up on the idea. could only pick a simple 5 tumbler lock at that time.
well.. that's all for my short career.. haha. only one sucessful use of my 'skill' was to pick a simple drawer lock.. hahaha...

comomo: Try using "Allen key/wrench" to make tension wrenches. I heard that "Allen key/wrench" makes good tension wrenches. Wonder why???
Making a tension wrench from scratch:- Grind the tip of the shorter end of the "Allen key/wrench" head until it becomes flat.

Welcome to the forum joshyip. Comomo, u can use street bristles or wiper blade inserts to make picks. But there are two types of different wiper blade inserts - narrow and wide, the narrow one can only make slimline picks whilst the wider one can make all types of picks including tension wrenches. Can also use saw blades, but it requires lots of grinding, sparks will fly, heheh (literally), and ur grinding stone will wear out in no time. It hurts to hold a pick made out of saw blades - one solution is to grind your saw blades very short and then insert it into an art knife holder, like this: NEBTD, Allen keys are also good for tension wrenches, becoz they are extremely stiff and provides good feedback to the hand. However, i find it hard to grind, sparks also fly and it also wears out your grinding stone pretty fast.
