Hey guys & gals...just wondering . have u ppl heard of improvised tools for lock picking. Like using everyday stuff to open simple locks. I've read about a guy who could open a six pin lock with a hair clip and a screwdriver as a tension wrench but i also not sure true or not ...Any ideas are welcomed..

Hi radian,
Yes, I sometimes use a paper clip and screwdriver to open my office cabinet drawers.
Office cabinet drawers are wafer locks. You need a large paper clip - the 1" large paper clip. Use a plier and straighten one of the limbs. Then bend about 5 mm of the end of the straingtened end up about 45 degrees. This will be your raking tool.
Insert the screw driver on the bottom of the keyhole and apply a turning force clockwise. The screwdriver is your tension wrench. Use a small screwdriver coz you do not want to block the entire keyhole. Then insert your modified paper clip with the 45 degree bent end into the keyhole with the bent going upwards like a feeler pick. Then rake until the lock opens.
I usually can open it in less than a minute ;D

Hi Paul, But how to open double wafer type? cant really understand it. adam For double sided wafer, you only need to rake one side not both sides. But you need to choose the correct side to rake. The first thing to do is to use your hook pick and feel both sides. One of the sides is springy (bouncy) while the other side is stiff (rigid). Once you have found out which side is spirngy, insert your tension wrench on the stiff side and rake on the springy side until it opens. I have also managed to open my Proton Iswara car door and bonnet this way. ;D But you need to use the 2piece or 8/11 piece set. Improvised tools like paper clips is too soft and will not work on car doors. Paul
